Some pieces become part of the way you know a room. A painting you look at each morning. A framed map you still stop to read. A print that brings an old interest back into view.

Field & Found brings together original art, photography, vintage prints, and selected objects with that kind of lasting appeal. Based in North Texas, we work directly with artists and follow our interests through collections, studios, and the places where good things turn up.

Our collection begins online, with personal conversations and viewings arranged around the work. Here is a little of what you can discover, and how we can help you find something worth living with.

Original Art, Directly Connected to the Artist

There is something valuable about being able to ask where a painting began. Who is the person in it? What drew the artist to that landscape? Which decisions changed the work along the way?

Working directly with an artist lets us bring those conversations into the presentation. You can see the painting clearly, learn about its making, and ask questions before deciding whether it belongs with you.

Robert de Leon

Our featured artist, Robert de Leon, paints the people and country of the American West through nearly sixty years of experience. His work includes Western figures, portraits, horses, wildlife, and landscapes drawn from places he has known.

The current selection moves from the close encounter of Cowboy Sam to the mountain country of Head’n to the North Country, and from the question in Friend or Foe to the fresh greens of After the Storm.

Each offers a different way into his work. Together, they introduce an artist with a remarkable command of composition and a life full of material to paint.

A Closer Look

For Robert’s available paintings, we offer:

  • Photographs and details: The complete work, closer views, medium, dimensions, and price.

  • Personal viewings: Appointments at Robert’s gallery, with video viewings and additional photographs available.

  • Framing included: The listed price includes the pictured frame.

  • Purchase assistance: Availability confirmation, deposit reservation arrangements, and delivery or shipping coordination.

  • Documentation: A sale receipt and certificate of authenticity with the painting.

Vintage Prints & Paper

An old print can be an excellent place to begin a collection. It may connect with something you already know well: a particular aircraft, a favorite car, wildlife, or a place you have traveled.

Our interests in printed matter run through automotive and aviation art, wildlife illustrations, maps, and publications. We look for images with enough strength to hold a wall and enough detail to keep rewarding your attention.

Machines, Landscapes, and Places

Among the material we have collected are automotive prints by L. R. Daniels, aviation prints by Keith Ferris, wildlife prints, and National Geographic maps.

These subjects have their own audiences, but you do not need to be a specialist to appreciate them. The curve of a car, the construction of an aircraft, or the lettering on a map can be reason enough to stop.

A well-chosen print can sit comfortably beside an original painting. Its place in a room comes from the work itself and the person choosing it.

Knowing What You Are Looking At

Paper deserves a clear description. An original drawing, an editioned print, a period poster, and a later reproduction are different things.

We pay attention to the artist or publisher, printed and handwritten markings, dimensions, and condition. When something remains uncertain, we say so. The details should help you understand the piece and enjoy owning it.

Antiques & Collected Objects

The same eye carries into objects.

We are drawn to furniture, useful goods, and older pieces whose design or construction gives you something to appreciate. A good shape, an unusual mechanism, a material handled well, or a detail that reveals the maker’s care can be the beginning.

The selection will grow as suitable pieces come through our hands. We would rather present a few things well than fill a category for the sake of having it.

Age, Condition, and Character

Age can add interest, but it also asks for attention. Wear, repairs, missing parts, and later alterations belong in the description.

Some pieces remain useful. Others are best appreciated as objects of design or history. Understanding that distinction helps you choose the right place for them in your home.

Our interest is in what has survived, what makes it worth keeping, and how it can be enjoyed now.

Finding a Piece You Want to Live With

You may begin with a wall to fill or an artist you already follow. You might also find something first and work out its place later.

Either way, a few practical questions make the decision easier.

  • What keeps bringing you back? Spend time with the image or object. Notice whether your interest grows beyond the first impression.

  • How large is it? Check the artwork dimensions and the overall framed size. For objects, ask for the measurements that matter to their placement and use.

  • What would you like to see more clearly? A close photograph, a side view, or a video call can answer questions a single image cannot.

  • What is included? Confirm framing, documentation, delivery, installation, and any additional charges.

  • Where will it live? Consider light, space, and the way you use the room. A piece should have a setting where you can enjoy it.

You are welcome to send us a question before you know exactly what you are looking for.

A Personal Way to Collect

Field & Found is founded and directed by Caleb Gomez. When you inquire, you are speaking with the person photographing the work, talking with the artist, and organizing its presentation.

That continuity matters. A question about a painting can reach its maker. A request for another photograph can become a better look at the exact detail you wanted to see. Delivery arrangements can be discussed with someone who knows the piece.

We want the process to feel considered from the first introduction through the moment the work arrives.

What We Are Building

The longer vision for Field & Found brings art, collected objects, books, music, and time outside into a shared place. Today, it begins with the work we can put before you properly: selected pieces, artist introductions, field notes, and a direct way to get in touch.

As the collection grows, its character will come from the choices we make and the people we work with. North Texas is home, with plenty to discover here and plenty of reasons to look further afield.

Find Your Way In

Start with a painting. Follow an artist’s story. Look closely at a print you might otherwise have passed by.

Something may remind you of where you have been, introduce you to an unfamiliar subject, or simply look right in the room where you spend your days. Those are all good reasons to collect.
